Here’s That Rainy Day

[James Van Heusen Johnny Burke]

Part of an early Broadway flop, “Here’s That Rainy Day” is a favorite of jazz soloists today. This is due to its surprising harmonic movement and the way the chord changes unfold throughout the tune. Frank Sinatra recorded it – and 84 other Van Heusen songs – which eventually brought it more renown. The tune works well in almost any style – try it here as a samba.
