On The Sunny Side Of The Street

[Dorothy Fields Jimmy McHugh]

First recorded in the late 1930’s, “On the Sunny Side of the Street” sounds like an old-fashioned tune evoking nostalgia more than anything. However, it could be considered a crowd pleaser in some circles and it’s not too quaint for modern artists like Jon Batiste and Terence Blanchard. Even Cyndi Lauper recorded a version in 2003.
