Speak Low

[Kurt Weill Ogden Nash]

Originally written for Broadway in the 1940’s, “Speak Low” is a perfect tune for improvising. Some musicians may find the form challenging but this can be helped by learning the lyrics which fit right in with the short melodic phrases. Though not a bebop tune per se, it’s fun to play on up-tempo. Check out Kevin Eubanks’ version performed with a drummer-less quartet!
